Science Communication

Wiminno – Contact for science communication on the web

Universities and research institutes produce highly relevant knowledge every day – yet there is often a gap between this knowledge and public perception. This is precisely where we come in. For us, digital science communication doesn't mean simply "packaging" research, but rather making it accessible, comprehensible, and relevant.

We translate scientific content into digital formats that can be understood without oversimplifying or distorting it. This begins with the structural preparation of content: What is a result, what is contextualization, and what is an ongoing process? Which target groups should be reached – the academic community, policymakers, administrators, the media, or an interested civil society? For us, digital science communication is therefore always also a question of information architecture.

Technically, this means robust, sustainable web solutions that don't aim for short-term attention, but rather for reliability, discoverability, and longevity. Science doesn't need campaign logic, but rather spaces where content can grow, be updated, contextualized, and discussed. We create these spaces – accessible, compliant with data protection regulations, and easy to manage editorially.

In terms of content, we understand digital science communication as a dialogue, not a one-way street. Digital formats enable questions, contextualization, and transparency – even where research involves uncertainties or results are preliminary. This is precisely what strengthens trust. Those who present science only as a finished truth forfeit credibility; those who make processes visible gain it.

For universities and research institutions, digital science communication is therefore not an "add-on," but a strategic component of their public mission. We support them in fulfilling this mission professionally, responsibly, and effectively in the digital space – with a clear focus on both scientific standards and the realities of the digital public sphere.

In addition to the websites of the Universities of Düsseldorf, Bremen, and Frankfurt/Oder, the "Digital Campus" of the University of Giessen, the seaice portal of the Alfred Wegener Institute, and the ifeu Heidelberg, we are proud of our latest example in science communication: the website on energy transition research for the IÖW Berlin (January 26).

So please feel free to contact us with your next project.
