Specializations

Wilhelm innovative medien GmbH (“wiminno”) was founded in January 2000 as a public relations agency and software company in Wuppertal, Germany. The owner-managed agency has had an office in Berlin since 2001 and in Cologne since 2009.
The focus of the company is on strategic, conceptual, creative and technical advice in the field of digital communication, the implementation of online communication measures, the digitization of business processes and the sustainable operation, maintenance and hosting of websites for public clients, associations and SMEs. Many of the web portals we create are barrier-free.

We focus on authorities, universities, institutes, associations

We implement content management systems (CMS) and open source CMS such as TYPO3, Drupal, WordPress or OpenCMS. In the course of its work, wiminno was able to win many public institutions, associations and companies as customers and provide them with long-term and sustainable support. The agency has been supporting customers since it was founded in 2000 in integrating their online communication into the overall communication. In 2000, we were one of the first ministries to put the Federal Environment Ministry online. Due to the high frequency of use of the website and the heterogeneous target groups of a ministry, we learned early on how to operate, maintain and further develop highly available websites. This applies to the legally compliant presentation of content, the high availability of the applications, data protection and, from 2004, increasingly the barrier-free implementation and use of social media.

In the course of its existence, we have been able to win and support other important large institutions and companies as customers, including the United Nations climate secretariat, the German side of the European Parliament, several web portals of the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, microsites of the BZgA, the NRW Ministry of the Environment, the association of municipal companies, the federal and railway accident insurance, the artists' social security fund, AWO International, the University of Bremen, whose website was relaunched at the beginning of February 2018, and the University of Düsseldorf, whose new website was launched at the beginning of September 2020, and the European University Viadrina, for which we created an HTML - Developed prototypes for the relaunch. For the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection, wilhelm innovative medien GmbH 2021 designed and carried out an online training series on the subject of “Information Technology for Judges and Public Prosecutors.

Focus on expert communities

Since August 2018, we have designed and programmed three alumni community portals for Erasmus Plus students on behalf of the European Commission and launched them in July 2019. Another community portal for Africa has been online since early 2020. The number of members is around 20,000 alumni with a strong upward trend. Our expert community is also involved in the KI-ASSIST.de project of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). The scientific community Pol-Int.org, which we developed for the Institute for Research on Poland, has been online since the end of January 2022.

Focus on consulting and implementation

From the shop, ordering system, booking system to feedback from insured persons, we also advise our customers on the integration of various modules and are thus increasingly transferring business processes to the Internet for our customers.
In addition, we advise our customers on how social media can be used sensibly. wiminno conducts training courses on this topic.
Our editors are trained in the creation of texts in easy language (LS) and create scripts for the creation of accessible sign language videos in the sense of the required accessibility according to BITV2.

We create websites professionally. The employees in the areas of programming and system administration are exclusively computer scientists with a university degree or application developers certified by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce.
The agency hosts its customers' websites with three different hosters. On the one hand, this is the BSI-certified data center of OpenIT (now PlusServer), on the other hand, the provider Mittwald, which specializes in OpenSource CMS, with three data centers distributed throughout Germany, and, on the other hand, Hostway Deutschland GmbH. The agency also supports data centers if clients want to host their own performances.

A corporate philosophy geared towards long-term cooperation

In our customer relationships, we rely on long-term, trusting cooperation and the greatest possible transparency.
On the one hand, as part of continuous support:
Here we work closely together with our customers  and are in continuous, goal-oriented exchange. Our customers always have two permanent contacts with us who can represent each other. The contact persons can be reached during normal office hours. A project e-mail address is set up to ensure smooth communication between client and contractor.
Within the framework of continuous support, we take on the needs and wishes of our clients.
We inform the customer about technical requirements and take over their implementation. Ongoing support requests are processed by phone, ticket system or email. After the successful completion of one complex or several smaller tasks, the client will be informed.
More comprehensive voting results from workshops or telephone conferences are recorded in minutes.

If there is a more comprehensive new requirement that requires conceptual preparation and coordination, or the presentation of results, the client will hold coordination meetings or workshops together with the contractor.
The implementation of measures takes place only after approval by the customer.
When implementing a new project, the client relies on a target-oriented mixture of agile (SCRUM) and classic project management.
Sufficient space is given to the necessary coordination processes. Deadlines, key data and milestones once set in the schedule are not randomly changed in order not to jeopardize the successful completion of individual sub-steps.

Personnel structure

wilhelm innovative medien GmbH is owned by the managing partners Dorothea v. Ruediger (qualified biologist) and Jens Wilhelm (social scientist).
The company is managed by both shareholders. Both have held managerial positions in the field of digital communication for 25 years. The managing directors always have sole power of representation.
All employees work on projects across locations and communicate with each other directly, via SLACK, telephone and/or ticket system.

We train IT specialists

We train IT specialists in application development and trainees in the field of IT project management. This is how we ensure the service for our customers in the future.
